Israeli occupation forces IOF assaulted Friday, August 25, Palestinian worshipers while performing the Friday prayer near Lions Gate, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, wounding many of them.
Local Palestinian sources reported that Israeli forces assaulted a Palestinian elderly while he was on his way to pray near the Lions Gate, which sparked confrontations between defenceless Palestinian worshipers and Israeli troops.
Israeli armed units reportedly fired rubber-coated metal bullets and toxic tear gas bombs at the worshipers and assaulted them with batons, wounding at least ten Palestinians and detaining seven others.
Palestinian media reported that Israeli troops prevented many Palestinian citizens from praying in their mosque, while dozens of Israeli colonizers stormed it under the forces’ protection.
Semi-daily, Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa and provocatively perform Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, aiming to impose a temporal and spatial division in the holy site, which the Muslim Palestinians reject and decry.
Earlier in June, media sources revealed a new Israeli proposed plan to divide the Muslims’ holy mosque and seize a part of it.
In July 2023, at least 6558 colonial Israeli settlers invaded the mosque and performed Talmudic provocative rituals in its squares, according to Palestinian figures.
