DaysofPal- The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that the Israeli occupation is deliberately enforcing a policy of “engineered starvation and chaos” against the enclave’s 2.4 million residents, after allowing in only a fraction of desperately needed aid throughout September.
In a statement received by Safa News Agency, the office said that just 1,824 aid trucks were permitted entry last month, compared with the 18,000 trucks expected, amounting to only 10% of Gaza’s actual humanitarian needs.
More than half of the population is children, the office noted.
It added that even the limited shipments that did enter were at times subject to looting and theft the “artificial security chaos imposed by the occupation,” aimed at undermining Palestinian resilience.
The Israeli complete closure of border crossings, including the northern Zikim crossing and the Kisufim and Kerem Shalom crossings, has deprived civilians of more than 430 essential items.
These include basic foods such as eggs, meat, fish, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, as well as nutritional supplements.
According to the office, Gaza requires at least 600 trucks per day to meet the minimum humanitarian threshold.
Yet, amid the ongoing war, the near-total collapse of infrastructure, and economic freefall, over 95% of Gazans cannot afford to buy goods even when they are available.
The media office held the Israeli occupation and its allies, particularly the United States, fully responsible for a man-made humanitarian catastrophe.
It urged the United Nations, Arab and Islamic states, and the wider international community to act immediately to ensure the flow of food and medical aid, secure its safe distribution, and hold the Israeli occupation accountable for “crimes of starvation.”
An attached daily breakdown of September’s aid deliveries showed stark shortages compared to actual needs, reinforcing concerns of an impending famine across the war-torn enclave.
