DaysofPal – Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon have killed at least 826 people and injured 2,009 others since the start of Israel’s military campaign on March 2, according to Lebanese figures. The escalation has also forced about 831,882 residents to flee their homes while bombardment continues in several parts of the country.
The ongoing strikes by Israel have been accompanied by repeated warnings issued by the Israeli army calling on residents of multiple Lebanese villages to evacuate. The alerts have raised fears of further displacement across border regions and other areas targeted by the attacks.
On Saturday, Hezbollah launched rockets and drones toward Israeli border towns and military positions. Projectiles were also fired toward the Upper Galilee, the Western Galilee, the city of Haifa, and the occupied Golan Heights. Air raid sirens sounded across several Israeli communities during the attacks.
The Israeli aggression against Lebanon continues, while Lebanese authorities seek direct negotiations with Tel Aviv to reach a ceasefire. Reports indicate that a new round of talks could take place in the coming days, with Cyprus or France under consideration as the venue. Cyprus is viewed as the more likely location.
The Israeli delegation is expected to be led by Ron Dermer, who has been appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to head the negotiations. Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the President of the United States, is also expected to attend the discussions representing the United States.
Diplomatic sources say the negotiations will focus on a possible arrangement that halts the fighting while addressing Israel’s demand that Hezbollah be disarmed. Israeli officials have not ruled out expanding military operations.
According to two sources familiar with the discussions, Israel is considering a large-scale ground offensive aimed at advancing into Lebanese territory up to the Litani River if diplomatic efforts fail.
