DayofPal—Israel has sharply intensified its military assault on the Gaza Strip in the weeks following the suspension of the joint US-Israeli war against Iran, according to a new report by conflict monitor ACLED.
The organization documented a 35 percent increase in Israeli attacks during April compared with the previous month, highlighting a significant escalation in attacks across the besieged enclave.
Data released by Gaza’s Ministry of Health indicates that at least 120 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed since April 8, when the Iran campaign was paused, a rise of 20 percent compared with the preceding five-week period.
Despite the announcement of a ceasefire brokered by the United States and Qatar, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip say the reality on the ground remains unchanged.
Israeli forces still occupy more than half of Gaza’s territory, where they have demolished many of the remaining buildings and ordered all residents out.
The forces also enforce severe restrictions on humanitarian aid, and obstruct reconstruction efforts, while more than two million displaced residents endure catastrophic living conditions in overcrowded shelters and tent camps.
The report further notes that nearly 850 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire formally took effect, underscoring the fragility of the truce and the continuing devastation across Gaza.
