DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces continue military operations across the Gaza Strip early Thursday, with airstrikes and building demolitions reported on the opening day of the second phase of the ceasefire, according to local sources.
Warplanes targeted eastern districts of Gaza City and Khan Younis, while Israeli forces demolished homes east of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Artillery fire also struck several eastern areas of the territory throughout the morning hours.
Local journalists said Israeli aircraft carried out pre-dawn strikes in eastern Gaza City, followed by further attacks east of Khan Younis in the south.
Gunfire from Israeli armored vehicles was also heard east of Gaza City.
In a separate incident, Israeli artillery shelled locations northeast of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Shelling was also reported from artillery positions on Jabal al-Rayyes, east of the Tuffah neighborhood, aimed toward northern Gaza City.
Residents in northern Gaza reported that Israeli occupation forces conducted controlled demolitions of residential structures east of the Jabalia refugee camp.
The escalation occurred just hours after U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff announced late Wednesday the start of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan.
The initiative aims to transition from a ceasefire toward the formation of a technocratic governing body and the launch of reconstruction efforts.
Palestinian sources say Israeli forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire in effect since October 10, casting doubt on the durability of the newly launched phase.
