DaysofPal- The situation in northern Gaza continues to deteriorate after six weeks of tightened siege and relentless attacks.
The continuous attacks and evacuation orders in Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia have led to horrifying massacres and an intolerable humanitarian situation for those thousands of people who are still stranded there without access to enough humanitarian aid.
Israeli massacres in the past few days have killed at least 96 Palestinians living in the northern region. The Israeli occupation army targeted the Al-Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps as well as Beit Lahia, although knowing that displaced people, primarily women and children, were taking refuge there.
At least fifty people were killed and others were buried under debris when Israeli fighter jets struck a five-story residential building in Beit Lahia. Fifteen others were killed when Israeli forces shelled a house, including members of the Ghabayen, Ghneim, Safi, Ayada, Abdul Ati, and Al-Taluli families.
Due to extensive attacks, the Israeli army has turned the northern region of Gaza into a demolished landscape, rendering towns and refugee camps like Beit Lahiya and Jabalia completely unrecognizable.
The offensive has been described as an ethnic cleansing campaign under the so-called ‘General’s Plan,’ which aims to drive Palestinians out of northern Gaza by threatening violence and labeling the remaining residents as Hamas members.
On the humanitarian front, things are getting worse because one of the primary means of implementing the ongoing Israeli genocide is starvation. Palestinians in the North Gaza governorate are facing inhumane conditions without access to food, water, or medical care.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reports that even when humanitarian aid is permitted entry, movement within the Gaza Strip is severely restricted due to continuously occurring intense fighting and bombardment, and missions are frequently refused or not facilitated by the Israeli authorities.
