In a recent investigation conducted by CNN, it has been revealed that the Israeli army was complicit in a violent attack carried out by settlers on the town of Hawara in the West Bank.
The findings shed light on a disturbing collaboration between the Israeli occupation forces and the colonial settlers.
The investigation highlights the sequence of events leading up to the attack, which was preceded by a significant incitement campaign orchestrated by extremist settlers through various social media platforms.
These online efforts called for retaliation against Palestinians, fueling tensions in the region.
According to reports from the Israeli soldier interviewed by CNN, the army allowed the settlers to enter the town and engage in acts of aggression against the Palestinians.
The soldier further revealed that a substantial number of soldiers, in addition to the internal security agency known as Shin Bet, were present during the attack.
Despite being aware of the threat posed by the settlers, no action was taken to prevent the violence. Instead, they stood alongside the hundreds of settlers who assaulted the village.
The investigation unequivocally concludes that the Israeli occupation forces were ill-prepared to handle the violent acts perpetrated by the settlers.
They made no efforts to intervene or prevent the attacks, nor did they attempt to stop the settlers from entering Hawara.
An additional Israeli soldier corroborated these findings, stating that the violence carried out by the settlers and the subsequent burning of Palestinian properties could have been averted if the forces present had employed necessary measures against the settlers and prevented their entry into the town.
The repercussions of this aggressive onslaught were devastating.
More than 30 houses, commercial establishments, and numerous vehicles were set ablaze during the assault.
Tragically, a young Palestinian lost his life, and over 100 others sustained injuries in Hawara and the surrounding villages located south of Nablus.
The CNN investigation underscores the distressing reality of collaboration between Israeli occupation forces and settlers, shedding light on the urgent need for accountability and measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
