DaysofPal— At least 22 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed on Monday, December 9,2024, as Israeli air and drone strikes targeted multiple locations in the besieged Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, a power outage at a northern Gaza hospital has put the lives of over 100 patients in grave danger.
In one of the attacks, a drone strike killed three Palestinians in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Local sources told DaysofPal that the victims were attempting to leave their homes in search of food when the missile struck.
“Their bodies are still in the street, and no one can retrieve them because of the ongoing shelling,” said a reporter on the ground. Jabalia has been under an intense Israeli siege for 65 days, with residents facing acute shortages of food and water.
In the southern city of Rafah, 10 Palestinians were killed overnight while waiting in line to buy flour, as Israeli strikes continued to devastate civilian areas. Humanitarian aid remains severely limited, leading to widespread hunger similar to the crisis in the north.
Meanwhile, in central Gaza’s Bureij refugee camp, an Israeli bombing of a residential building left nine members of a single family dead, most of them women and children.
In northern Gaza, the Kamal Adwan Hospital is struggling to operate after shelling damaged key infrastructure and cut off electricity, oxygen, and water supplies. The hospital director, Hussam Abu Safia, warned that the lives of 112 patients, including six in intensive care and 14 children, are at immediate risk.
“The situation is extremely dangerous,” Abu Safia said. “Without electricity and oxygen, we cannot access the operating rooms or provide critical care.” Continued shelling in the area has hindered efforts to repair the damage.
The hospital is one of the few remaining operational medical facilities in northern Gaza. However, it has faced frequent threats, including an Israeli attack on Friday that killed four staff members.
Since the start of the war, Israeli attacks have killed over 44,700 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health authorities. Most of the victims are women and children, underscoring the severe human cost of the ongoing conflict.
As conditions in Gaza worsen, calls for urgent international intervention continue to grow amid fears of further civilian casualties and the collapse of critical healthcare infrastructure.
