DaysofPal – An Israeli strike on a multi-story residential building in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya town on Sunday killed or injured dozens of Palestinians, according to residents and medical professionals. The building housed at least six families.
Gaza’s government media office said early in the morning, Israeli warplanes attacked several residential buildings and homes in the town.
“The occupation army was aware that dozens of displaced civilians were inside these buildings and that the majority of them were children and women who had been displaced from their neighborhoods,” it added in a statement.
Additionally, according to a medical source, Israeli fighter jets struck a five-story building in the Beit Lahia Project area on Sunday, killing roughly fifty people and trapping a number of others beneath the debris.Witnesses reported that more than 70 displaced civilians had sought refuge inside the building that was targeted.
The horrific Israeli attacks did not spare even the areas known as “safe zones,” as a tent sheltering families in Khan Younis was also targeted. Medical sources reported that a man, his wife, and two children were killed, in addition to his daughter being seriously injured, after the Israeli occupation forces bombed a tent sheltering displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis.
The Israeli military has been using highly explosive-equipped robots to blow up residential neighborhoods, according to witnesses.
Israeli war heavily impacts Gaza’s Civil Defense
Israel’s ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip have killed dozens of civil defense personnel and destroyed a number of centers and vehicles, the agency said Monday.
“Some 85 civil defense personnel were killed, 301 injured, and 20 detained by the Israeli army,” the organization said in a statement.
There were 56 vehicles total, including 12 completely destroyed fire and rescue vehicles, 2 rapid intervention rescue vehicles, 4 water tankers, 8 ambulances, 1 hydraulic rescue ladder vehicle, and 13 administrative vehicles, according to the report. Three ambulances, two water tankers, and eleven fire and rescue vehicles were among the partially damaged vehicles.
The report also mentioned that the occupation forces directly targeted Civil Defense centers 6 times and attacked teams 17 times during field missions.
It further stated that the Civil Defense’s 1.3 million-dollar supply of firefighting, rescue, and ambulance equipment was destroyed by the Israeli military. It confirmed that on October 23, 2024, the occupation forces disabled the Civil Defense system in the northern Gaza Strip, forcing its crews to relocate to the central and southern parts of the area.
“The Israeli onslaught has paralyzed the ability of the civil defense crews to do their humanitarian duties,” it added.
Since then, no humanitarian supplies, such as food, medicine, and fuel, have been permitted to enter the region, putting the majority of the population in danger of starvation.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a bloody war on the Gaza Strip, killing nearly 43,800 people, primarily women and children. The assault was the most recent in this campaign.
