DayofPal– The Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported late Monday that Israeli occupation army so far has directly targeted over 188 archaeological and historical sites in Gaza.
Minister Hani Al-Hayek stated that museums, mosques, and churches, rich in artifacts and history, have been destroyed during the Israeli genocide in Gaza, started on October 7, 2023.
Speaking at a seminar titled “Destruction of Cultural Heritage in Gaza,” Al-Hayek decried the Israeli deliberate attacks, deeming their military campaign vivid attempts to erase the Palestinian history, culture and identity.
Some of the hundred-year-old archaeological which were destroyed by the Israeli during the war occupation include: Burquq Castle, Anthedon Port (Blakhia), St. Prephirius Church, St. Hilarion Monastery (Tel Am Amir), Al-Samrah Bathhouse, Al-Saqqa Historic House, Al-Ghossein Historic House, Al-Sabbat Scientific House and dozens others.
Gaza Government Media Office reported that the Israeli war on Gaza cost $37 billion in preliminary direct losses with approximately 90% of the Gaza Steip has been rendered destroyed. The office noted that about 206 archeological and heritage sites were directly or indirectly damaged.
The war-ravaged strip has kneeled over the ongoing attacks that targeted the infrastructure and buildings with about 655,000 meters of sewage networks and 2,835,000 meters of roads and streets have been destroyed.
