DaysofPal- Israel’s air force bombarded Dahiyeh, a suburb in southern Beirut, overnight, destroying dozens of buildings in multiple neighborhoods, despite mounting pressure from the United States and other international players for a cease fire in both Gaza and Lebanon.
Following a four-day lull during which no airstrikes were reported in the suburb, the early Friday airstrikes on Dahiyeh destroyed dozens of buildings and started fires in the area, according to the agency.
The Israeli military quickly issued two orders for residents to evacuate, telling them to leave a number of neighborhoods in the Dahiyeh suburb because they were about to be attacked.
The interim prime minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, stated yesterday that he was cautiously optimistic that a ceasefire agreement or at least a draft agreement would be reached. His language had changed significantly today.
He said that Israel’s forced evacuation of Lebanon’s cities and towns constituted war crimes and that the ongoing threats from Israel do not give cause for hope.
Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed at least 2,867 people and wounded 13,047 since the start of the war on Gaza on October 2023.
