26-year-old Journalist Ibrahim Muharib was tragically killed last night by Israeli forces in northern Khan Younis, Gaza.
Muharib, who is a freelance journalist collaborating with multiple media outlets and an active member of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, was among a group of journalists deliberately targeted by Israeli tanks while en route to Hamad city.
Tanks assault also resulted in injuries to journalist Salma Al-Qudumi, who was subsequently hospitalized.
Eyewitnesses recounted that Israeli forces launched both airstrikes and artillery fire against the journalists near Hamad, situated in northwestern Khan Younis, amid the ongoing Israeli military incursion.
Muharib’s body was found on Monday morning after an initial period of being unaccounted for during the attack.
Muharib’s death marks a grim milestone, with the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate reporting that the number of journalists killed since the onset of the Israeli offensive on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has now reached 169.
Additionally, 186 journalists have sustained injuries, and 51 have been detained during this genocide.
The Government Media Office in Gaza has condemned Muharib’s killing as a “heinous crime” and has placed full responsibility on Israel.
It has called upon the international community and press organizations worldwide to address ongoing war crimes and the targeted assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israel.
This incident underscores the perilous conditions faced by journalists covering the longest war since ages, as Israeli forces continue their targeted attacks against media personnel.
