The number of Palestinian police officers killed in the Gaza Strip has risen to 42 since the ceasefire agreement took effect in October 2025, after five officers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Interior.
In a statement, the ministry said Israeli warplanes targeted a police position in the al-Touam area, north of Gaza City, during the afternoon, killing five police personnel and a child.
The ministry condemned what it described as a “heinous crime” against the police force, saying repeated strikes on security personnel aim to spread chaos within Palestinian society.
It added that the continued targeting of both police officers and civilians constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement and represents a clear breach of international norms and conventions.
The ministry further said the attack took place amid what it called silence from mediators and the international community regarding ongoing violations against police forces and civilians in Gaza.
It called on mediators and international actors to urgently intervene and pressure Israel to halt attacks on police and civilian sites, extending condolences to the families of those killed and wishing a swift recovery for the wounded.
In recent months, since the ceasefire was signed in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes have repeatedly targeted police checkpoints, security posts, and police vehicles across various parts of the enclave.
