The commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs stated today, Wednesday, that the Israeli occupation authorities are holding 18 sick prisoners in the so-called “Ramleh prison’s clinic”
The prisoners are in poor health conditions, as the clinic lacks the minimum medical facilities necessary for their aid.
The commission added that among the sick patients held in the prison’s clinic, the prisoner Raed Rayan who is on hunger strike for the 70th consecutive day, protesting against his administrative detention
Rayan suffers from headaches and joint pain and pressure in his eyes, complains of severe fatigue and continuous vomiting, and is now in a wheelchair, as he continues to refuse to receive any kind of medical intervention.
The commission added that another prisoner, Noureddine Jerboa, from Jenin, who is also currently in the prison’s clinic, had a deep wound in his back that is severely infected and had not yet healed. He is also anemic and suffers from a significant decrease in vitamins levels and severe infections in the place of the wound
The prisoner, Jamal Zaid, from Ramallah, suffers from kidney problems and undergoes dialysis 3 times a week, and since he learned of the unjustified extension of his administrative detention, he stopped dialysis in protest against the extension of his administrative detention for a period of three months
The commission points out that the administration of the Ramle prison clinic holds prisoners suffering from severe chronic diseases, such as cancer patients, heart patients, and prisoners with disabilities, and that the Ramle prison clinic does not provide these prisoners with adequate medical attention and is satisfied only with providing them painkillers, and that other prisoners are the ones helping patients with their daily needs
It is worth noting that the sick prisoners who are currently detained inside the “Ramle Prison” clinic, in addition to the prisoners Rayan, Jarbou, and Zaid are (Khaled Al-Shawish, Mansour Moqada, Mutasem Raddad, Nahed Al-Aqra’, Nazem Abu Salim, Abdul Rahman Burqan, Jamal Zaid, Muhammad Hussein, Muharib Dais, Nasser Abu Hamid, Imad Sarhan, Youssef Allan, Murad Barakat, Sabri Darwish, Nadir Ahmed).
