DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) announced on Monday the start of a large-scale military operation in the Jabal Johar area of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, carried out in coordination with the Shin Bet internal security agency.
The army said the campaign targets armed individuals and weapons and is expected to last several days.
Local sources said substantial Israeli reinforcements entered Hebron overnight, marking the beginning of a broad operation across several parts of the city.
Israeli forces reportedly raided dozens of homes, carrying out searches, damaging property, and detaining a number of residents from different areas of the Hebron governorate.
According to the sources, Israeli forces imposed strict closures on neighborhoods in the southern section of the city, blocking secondary roads with iron gates, concrete barriers, and earth mounds.
Residents reported that soldiers searched multiple houses, caused extensive damage to their contents, and assaulted civilians during the raids.
Israeli forces also established a series of military checkpoints at the main entrances to Hebron and at access points to nearby towns, villages, and refugee camps.
Several main and secondary roads were sealed off with gates, concrete blocks, and earthen embankments, significantly disrupting movement throughout the area.
The operation is part of a wider escalation by Israeli occupation forces across the occupied West Bank, where intensified raids, arrests, and road closures have become increasingly frequent in recent weeks.
