DaysofPal- A Palestinian Civil Defense officer was killed, and six others were wounded on Wednesday morning after Israeli Occupation forces (IOF) targeted emergency crews east of Gaza City, according to the Civil Defense Directorate.
In a statement, the directorate confirmed the death of officer Munther Raed al-Dahshan, who succumbed to severe injuries sustained when an Israeli drone opened fire on a rescue team during an evacuation mission at Al-Falah School in Gaza’s Zeitoun neighborhood. The school, sheltering displaced families, had been struck earlier in an Israeli air raid.
The Civil Defense condemned the attack as a “deliberate crime,” noting that its teams were clearly marked, wearing official uniforms, and operating vehicles identifiable as emergency units.
Earlier, the agency reported that seven of its members were injured in the same incident, including two in critical condition, after Israeli warplanes bombed Al-Falah School without warning.
According to the Civil Defense, Israeli forces have targeted its crews 38 times since the start of the war, 27 strikes while performing humanitarian missions and 11 attacks on official stations. The directorate said that 139 of its members have been killed since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war.
“This brutal attack is part of a systematic effort to paralyze humanitarian response in Gaza,” the Civil Defense said, calling the incident a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits attacks on rescue workers.
The statement added: “Targeting our crews only strengthens our determination to continue our national and humanitarian duty despite all risks and challenges.”
The Civil Defense urged international organizations and rights bodies to intervene immediately to stop Israeli attacks and provide protection for emergency and rescue teams working in Gaza.
