The new year was not as joyful as it should be for families of 234 Palestinians who fell victim to Israel’s violence and brutality in the Gaza Strip, West Bank Jerusalem, and the 1948 occupied lands.
None of the 2020s months passed without Israel committing crimes against Palestinians. The more days passed the more crimes were.
Only in December 2022, Israel killed 15 Palestinians, including a girl and a sick prisoner. 10 Palestinians were killed in the first half of December and five others were killed in the second half.
On the first day of December, the Israeli forces carried out a military raid into occupied Jenin and killed Mohammed Al-Saadi, 26, and Naem Al-Zubaidi, 27. The Israeli forces killed Ammar Mufleh, 22, in occupied Nablus on the following day.
On December 5, the Israeli forces shot and killed 32-year-old Mujahed Hamed, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
December 8th witnessed a horrific crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces and Janin. Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire in the city. They were identified as Ata Shalabi, 46, Sudqi Zakarneh, 22, and Tareq Al-Damj, 32.
In a related incident, the Israeli forces shot dead Diaa Al-Remawi, 16, in northwest occupied Ramallah.
The Palestinian girl Jana Zakarneh, 16, was one of the victims of the Israeli violence in the West Bank. She was killed during an Israeli military incursion into Janin. Jana was shot by an Israeli sniper on the roof of her family’s house.
At least 59 Palestinians were reported killed by the Israeli occupation forces in occupied Jenin in 2022 while 35 others were killed in occupied Nablus. 53 others were killed in the Gaza Strip, mostly massacred by the Israeli missiles in August aggression.
On the morning of December 20, the Palestinian cancer-stricken prisoner Nasser Abu Humaid, 50, was pronounced dead after a long battle with cancer under medical negligence deliberately practiced by Israeli occupation authorities.
Abu Humaid, one of five siblings serving long-term sentences in Israeli prisons, is the 233rd Palestinian prisoner killed by Israel inside the prison facilities.
With 49 children and 18 females killed by Israeli forces in 2022, Palestinian figures revealed that 29% of the Palestinian victims of Israeli violence in 2022 were children and females.
