Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) attacked and assaulted Friday, February 11, 2023 the Palestinian citizens who were protesting in the vicinity of the building that Israel threatened with demolition, in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that IOF raided the vicinity of the building, that it threatened with demolition, after the end of Friday prayers, fired a barrage of stun grenades and tear gas at Palestinian-owned houses, and removed the Palestinian flag from its walls.
Dozens of Palestinian citizens performed Friday prayer in front of the building in Silwan, rejecting the occupation’s decision to demolish it.
It’s noteworthy that the building consists of 13 residential apartments, and the demolition will lead to the displacement of more than 100 Palestinian citizens, most of whom are children.
Meanwhile, a group of Jerusalemite activists announced the start of the open sit-in, rejecting the policy of demolishing homes the new Israeli government has been using since its establishment. They also called for Friday prayers, and raised Palestinian flags on the walls of the aforementioned building.
As part of Israel’s collective punishment policy, Israeli security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir threatened to carry out a military operation in occupied Jerusalem.
It’s noteworthy that these provocative acts in the West-Bank come amid the escalating atmosphere, especially after the formation of the new Israeli Government.
The new Israeli Government follow a systematic daily violations against Palestinian citizens, deliberate detentions, house demolitions and mandatory deportation policy in a multiplied approach in a way to suffocate and complicate Palestinian lives.
