DaysofPal-Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said Thursday that the Movement has not received any formal draft proposals from mediators regarding the disarmament of Palestinian resistance groups, stressing that Hamas has not adopted any decision to freeze or surrender its weapons.
Speaking in remarks published early Thursday, Hamdan said the issue of resistance weapons is inseparable from the broader question of ending the Israeli occupation.
He described the arms held by Palestinian factions as “legitimate under international law and the will of the Palestinian people,” adding that they would not be relinquished until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
“Palestinian history teaches us that surrendering weapons leads to massacres,” Hamdan said, referencing past events including Sabra and Shatila. He argued that resistance remains the primary guarantee for protecting Palestinian lives and territory, asserting that Palestinian rights are not open to negotiation.
Hamdan also reiterated Hamas’s rejection of any form of international guardianship over the Gaza Strip.
He said that if an international force were to enter Gaza, its mandate must be strictly limited to border areas and focused solely on preventing Israeli attacks and ceasefire violations, without interfering in internal governance.
He revealed that Hamas had communicated with Indonesian officials regarding discussions of a potential international role, stating that any such force must remain neutral and not act as a substitute for Israeli occupation forces.
According to Hamdan, Indonesian officials indicated they would not participate in implementing any Israeli agenda inside Gaza and would limit their role to civilian protection and preventing aggression.
Hamdan affirmed that Palestinian factions are committed to supporting the administrative committee tasked with managing Gaza’s affairs.
He warned that any attempt to use international forces to undermine Palestinian decision-making or confront resistance groups would be firmly rejected.
Addressing ongoing negotiations, Hamdan said the Palestinian resistance had agreed to the first four elements of a proposal presented by U.S. President Donald Trump during talks in Sharm el-Sheikh. These reportedly included ending the war, conducting a prisoner exchange, facilitating humanitarian aid into Gaza, and Israeli withdrawal to a temporary line, with a subsequent full withdrawal to Gaza’s borders.
However, he noted that the Israeli occupation is obstructing implementation by blocking medical supplies, delaying the rehabilitation of hospitals and municipal services, and preventing the agreed administrative committee from entering Gaza despite the international consensus.
