Hamas Political Bureau member Ezat al-Rishq denies Sunday 13 July the report published by Agence France-Presse (AFP) about Hamas’ withdrawal of ceasefire talks following Israel’s massacre in Mawasi Khan Younis.
He said that “The report by AFP and circulated by some media about a decision by Hamas to halt negotiations in response to the massacre in Mawasi Khan Younis is entirely untrue.”
“The Nazi escalation against our people by Netanyahu and his Nazi government aims to block any agreement to halt the aggression against our people, which has become clear to everyone,” Al-Rishq added.
He also told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that negotiations have been suspended for days due to Israeli stubbornness, procrastination, and imposition of additional conditions outside the latest proposal.
“Egyptian and Qatari efforts remain active to achieve a ceasefire, and they fully understand that the Isralei side is the one hindering the success of the latest proposal.”
Reuters yesterday reported international mediators Qatar and Egypt said they would “halt negotiations due to the Israeli occupation’s lack of seriousness.”
Hamas Political Cheif Ismail Hanyyih added that Hamas has shown great flexibility to reach an agreement and end Israeli prolonged aggression on Gaza.
He noted that the movement is ready to resume negotiations when the Netanyahu’s government demonstrates seriousness in reaching a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange deal.
The sudden airstrikes on Mawasi Khan Younis killed over 90 Palestinians, including dozens of women and children, and injured at least other 300.
According to Israeli media reports, Israel used 8 US-made JDAM missiles in its airstrike on Al-Mawasi, an area designated by the Israeli army as safe for displaced Palestinians to set up tents.
