DaysofPal – Hamas has called on international mediators to pressure Israel to halt its ongoing attacks and fully comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement, accusing both Israel and the United States of undermining efforts to maintain calm in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Palestinian group said the latest Israeli strikes in Gaza “reveal a clear intention to undermine the ceasefire agreement and impose new realities by force,” adding that this escalation is taking place “under the cover of American complicity that grants Netanyahu’s fascist government political cover to continue its crimes.”
“The biased positions of the American administration in favor of the occupation constitute actual partnership in the bloodshed of our children and women and direct encouragement of the continuation of the aggression,” the statement continued.
Taher al-Nunu, media advisor to the head of Hamas’s political bureau, said the Israeli army is deliberately attempting to provoke resistance factions into retaliating in order to create a pretext for resuming full-scale hostilities.
He stressed that the Palestinian resistance remains fully committed to the ceasefire and has not engaged in any military operations since the truce came into effect.
“Hamas is acting with a high degree of responsibility to maintain calm as long as the occupation adheres to it,” al-Nunu said. He noted that the group has maintained constant communication with mediators since the ceasefire was announced, urging them to compel Israel to stop all violations and provocations on the ground.
Al-Nunu reaffirmed that Hamas “categorically rejects” Israel’s attempts to impose new security or territorial conditions in Gaza, saying such actions threaten to collapse the fragile truce.
He also called for international media outlets to be granted immediate access to Gaza to document what he described as “crimes against humanity” committed during Israel’s recent military operations.
The continued absence of international journalists, he warned, “contributes to covering up Israeli violations against civilians.”
