DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement issued a statement on Friday condemning the Israeli occupation forces for committing a new atrocity by targeting the homes of the Ahmed and al-Baba families in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. The attack resulted in the deaths of nearly 70 people, most of them women and children, with dozens more wounded.
The statement noted that ambulances are unable to reach the victims due to the deliberate obstruction of emergency and civil defense efforts, a part of the ongoing campaign of genocide that flagrantly violates international laws and conventions.
“The Israeli enemy continues its brutal war of genocide in the northern Gaza Strip, which it began fifty-two days ago, under a criminal siege, a complete ban on aid entry, such as food, water, or medicine, and a systematic targeting of defenseless civilians and civilian facilities, especially hospitals.”
Hamas called on the international community and the United Nations to lift the siege on northern Gaza, allowing humanitarian aid, ambulances, and rescue teams to reach the area. It also urged for an immediate end to the ongoing campaign of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and starvation being waged against defenseless civilians.
Hundreds of Palestinians are still fleeing northern Gaza, where the Israeli military launched a new offensive two months ago, tightening a complete siege on the region. According to United Nations estimates, up to 131,000 people have been displaced, with around 75,000 remaining in the area.
The siege has isolated Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and the Jabaliya refugee camp, preventing almost all humanitarian aid from reaching these communities.
Food security experts have long warned that famine is imminent. Earlier this month, the Famine Review Committee confirmed that “famine thresholds may have already been crossed, or are likely to be in the near future.”
