DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has issued a call for urgent international intervention to halt Israel’s intensifying attacks on Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure.
Hamas appealed to the international community, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Red Cross to act immediately to protect what remains of Gaza’s hospitals and medical facilities.
Hamas condemned the recent attack on the Indonesian hospital, describing it as part of a broader campaign of genocide and forced displacement against Palestinians in Gaza.
It also urged “free peoples” worldwide to show solidarity with Palestinians and increase pressure on Israel, accusing it of perpetrating these acts with American backing.
According to the statement, the Israeli military had issued threats to the staff members and patients at the Indonesian Hospital, demanding their evacuation or facing bombardment. Similar attacks have already rendered Kamal Adwan Hospital inoperable, leaving the Indonesian and Al-Awda hospitals struggling to provide care in northern Gaza.
The Gaza Government Media Office (GMO) echoed these concerns, condemning Israel’s “heinous crimes and arbitrary aggression against hospitals and medical teams.” The GMO described the destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital and the arrest of its director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, as “full-fledged war crimes,” adding that he had reportedly endured physical and psychological abuse.
The GMO described these actions as part of a planned strategy known as the “Generals’ Plan” to drive Palestinians out of northern Gaza by force, which it labeled as ethnic cleansing. It criticized the international community and the UN Security Council for their “unjustified silence,” asserting that Israel’s actions violate international humanitarian law and human rights conventions.
The Israeli military’s recent campaign has drawn sharp criticism from various human rights groups and international bodies. A report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented over 136 airstrikes targeting at least 27 hospitals and 12 other medical facilities in Gaza in the past eight months, leading to significant loss of life and the destruction of critical infrastructure.
In response, Hamas and the GMO have demanded independent international investigations into these violations, holding Israel, its US allies, and other complicit states accountable. They called for firm action from the international community to condemn the attacks, rebuild Gaza’s healthcare facilities, and ensure justice through international courts.
The appeals come amid escalating violence, with health services in Gaza on the brink of collapse, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
