Movement of Hamas sent on Friday, 1 September 2023 his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in the devastating building fire in the Johannesburg city centre this morning.
In a statement, Hamas stated that they saddened and devastated by this awful tragedy, stressing that their thoughts go out to the relatives of those who lost their lives and to those who were injured.
- Bassem Naim, Head of the Political Department and Foreign Relations in Hamas extended wishes for the injured to make a quick recovery.
“The great people of South Africa will overcome this ordeal as they have overcome many before it, with their great qualities and great experiences, he said.
More than 70 people have died and over 50 more were wounded as a fire broke out in a building in central Johannesburg filled with scores of informal residents.
