Late Wednesday, June 12th, Hamas movement responded in a press statement to allegations made by US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken regarding the ceasefire proposal.
Hamas responded positively and with national responsibility to the latest proposal and all proposals aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement and the release of detainees, Hamas added.
Mahmoud Taha, the Public Relations Official of Hamas, said the amendments presented by Hamas in the negotiation document are neither difficult nor impossible and are in the interest of the Palestinian people following the horrific massacres.
The international community and the Security Council, he added, are facing a test regarding the application of the ceasefire, opening crossings, and allowing the entry of aid, considering the United States biased towards Israel, and if it wanted to pressure for an end to the war, it would have stopped it.
Hamas also said in the statement that the proposal it Hamas received from mediators on the 5th of May was approved the very next day.
“We submitted our response on the 6th of May, which was considered by the mediators and all parties as positive and encouraging. Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s response was an attack on Rafah and an escalation of aggression against our people across the Gaza Strip.”
It further welcomed the Security Council’s resolution which emphasized a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, complete withdrawal from it, the exchange of prisoners, reconstruction, and the return of displaced persons to their homes.
However, the world has not heard any welcome or approval from Netanyahu and his government, who have instead continued to reject any permanent ceasefire.
We consider the statements made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in which he attempted to absolve ‘Israel’ of responsibility, to wash his hands stained with the blood of innocent children, women, and elderly, and to blame Hamas for obstructing the agreement, as a continuation of the US’s complicit policy in the genocide.
While Blinken continues to talk about Israel’s acceptance of the latest proposal, we have not heard any Israeli official speak of such acceptance, the movement concluded.
