DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has strongly rejected the Israeli claim that its deadly strike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis killed six of the group’s fighters, insisting that none of the 21 victims were members of the Movement.
In a statement reported by Reuters on Wednesday, Hamas said the Israeli version of events was false and misleading.
Hamas pointed out that at least two of the six people the Israeli occupation claimed to have killed in the hospital attack had in fact died at different times and in other places, including one who was killed in al-Mawasi, far from the hospital.
The Israeli occupation forces admitted that the target of its raid on the southern Gaza hospital was not a gathering of fighters but a surveillance camera allegedly used by Hamas to monitor Israeli troop movements.
“In light of this, the force acted to destroy the camera,” the Israeli forces said, describing the strike as part of an “initial investigation.”
The attack unfolded in two stages, whereas at the Moment of the first strike on Monday, a Reuters live feed suddenly cut out after cameraman Hussam al-Masri, who was filming outside the hospital, was killed.
Minutes later, a second Israeli strike hit the same location, killing rescue workers and four more journalists who had rushed in to help the injured.
The double-tap strike on a medical facility, which killed journalists, medics, rescue workers, and civilians, has drawn widespread global condemnation.
Human rights groups said it was another example of the Israeli pattern of targeting civilians and accused the military of committing war crimes through indiscriminate bombardment.
The Israeli occupation forces have routinely justified their operations in Gaza by claiming to target Hamas operatives and infrastructure.
However, a recent report found that more than 83% of those killed in the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza have been civilians, raising alarm among international observers over what they describe as systematic violations of humanitarian law.
