DaysofPal- The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza has warned of a catastrophic humanitarian situation as only 14 percent of essential food and aid entered the besieged enclave over the past month.
The GMO noted that the figure highlights the Israeli-made “engineered famine” strategy, which has pushed Gaza to the brink of mass starvation.
According to the statement, Israeli forces have completely sealed border crossings and blocked the entry of more than 430 critical food items, resulting in an 86% shortfall in life-saving supplies.
These restrictions have left warehouses and distribution centers empty while thousands of aid trucks remain stalled at crossing points, unable to deliver desperately needed food, medicine, and fuel.
The office said that the impact of the Israeli blockade is most devastating for the most vulnerable groups in society, children, the sick, the elderly, widows, and the wounded, who are disproportionately dying from hunger and malnutrition.
To date, at least 313 people, including 119 children, have starved to death, with health workers warning that the real toll is likely higher as many deaths go unreported.
Eyewitnesses in northern Gaza describe scenes of families boiling animal fodder and weeds to survive, while children faint in classrooms and hospitals due to acute hunger.
Long queues form daily whenever limited food distributions occur, often ending in chaos as Israeli forces have fired on starving civilians attempting to access supplies.
International agencies have repeatedly called for an immediate lifting of the Israeli blockade.
Moreover, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) recently warned that Gaza is facing “the fastest decline into famine in modern history.”
Despite global pressure, Israeli occupation forces continue to restrict humanitarian convoys, while allowing settlers and looters to plunder incoming aid under military watch.
Human rights groups have repeatedly stated that the Israeli occupation is deliberately weaponizing hunger as a tool of war, which is an act that amounts to a war crime under international law.
The Government Media Office appealed for urgent international intervention, stressing that Gaza’s population cannot withstand further weeks of deliberate starvation.
