DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has urged the Arab League to reject any plans that might endanger Arab national security.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem criticized remarks by Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki, who suggested that removing Hamas would benefit the Palestinian people.
“We are surprised by the statements of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, in which he indicated that the removal of the Hamas Movement serves the interests of the Palestinian people,” Qassem stated in a press release.
He reaffirmed Hamas’s commitment to prioritizing the interests of the Palestinian people in decisions regarding Gaza’s post-war governance.
“Hamas will continue to prioritize the supreme interests of the Palestinian people in all decisions related to Gaza’s post-war governance, ensuring they remain within the framework of national consensus and free from interference by the occupation or the United States,” he said.
Qassem also emphasized Hamas’s willingness to cooperate in political and administrative discussions, particularly in negotiations with Egypt.
“We have demonstrated the highest level of flexibility in formulating political and administrative approaches for governing Gaza during multiple dialogues, particularly with Egypt,” he noted.
He further stated that Hamas had agreed to establish a national consensus government and had fully accepted Egypt’s proposal regarding the Community Support Committee.
The ceasefire agreement came into effect last month, bringing a halt to Israel’s devastating war, which has killed at least 48,300 people, the majority of whom are women and children, and has left the enclave in devastation.
