DaysofPal-The Hamas Movement warned on Thursday that famine in the Gaza Strip has reached dangerous levels, threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents amid a blockade that has lasted for over 21 months, and the ongoing Israeli aggression against the territory.
In a press statement, Hamas said that the Israeli occupation is deliberately using a policy of “starvation and denial of basic necessities” as a tool of genocide, describing it as “one of the most horrific crimes committed against children and innocent civilians in modern times.”
Hamas strongly criticized the silence of the international community and its institutions, particularly the UN Security Council, stating that ignoring the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe “sets a dangerous precedent that reinforces the logic of lawlessness and contempt for international and humanitarian laws.”
The Movement called on Arab and Islamic countries and the United Nations to take immediate action to pressure for the lifting of the siege imposed on Gaza and to allow the urgent entry of food and humanitarian aid. It emphasized the urgent need to end the cycle of killing, genocide, and brutal starvation.
