DaysofPal- A senior Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Wednesday evening to monitor the implementation of the ongoing ceasefire agreement and to hold talks with regional mediators.
The delegation, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, began meetings immediately upon arrival with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
According to a statement released by Hamas, the visit aims to ensure progress in enforcing the ceasefire and addressing key political and humanitarian issues.
Hamas said the delegation is also expected to hold a series of national meetings with Palestinian faction leaders and officials in an effort to unify positions on pressing national matters.
The Cairo visit follows a round of talks held over the past two days in Ankara, where the delegation met separately with Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Discussions there focused on recent developments in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the blatant Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.
According to health sources, approximately 700 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect, alongside the renewed Israeli control over areas in Gaza near the so-called yellow line.
During its meetings, the delegation reviewed the latest developments in negotiations and stressed the importance of adhering to the terms of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, particularly the obligations required in the first phase.
The Movement also presented an extensive briefing on the humanitarian and security conditions in Gaza, highlighting ongoing challenges faced by civilians.
In addition, discussions addressed the situation in Jerusalem, including the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque to Muslim worshippers, including during Friday and Eid prayers, moves Hamas described as unprecedented and dangerous.
The delegation further raised concerns over recently proposed Israeli legislation referred to as a law to execute prisoners, warning that such measures could endanger thousands of Palestinian detainees and empower hardline figures to carry out executions under legal cover.
The meetings in Cairo are expected to continue over the coming days as diplomatic efforts intensify to stabilize the ceasefire and prevent further escalation.
