DaysofPal-The Hamas Movement stated that the Israeli move to accelerate the approval of the “death penalty law for prisoners,” along with preparations to implement it, constitutes a blatant challenge to international and humanitarian laws and conventions.
In a press statement received by Safa News Agency, Hamas said the measures expose the true nature of Israel, accusing it of systematic criminality, bloodshed, and the practice of collective punishment.
The movement said the steps represent an unprecedented escalation in the Israeli policy of the slow killing of Palestinian prisoners, carried out through harsh detention conditions.
Hamas added that the move comes amid systematic torture and abuse inside Israeli prisons, where detainees are subjected daily to mistreatment, medical neglect, and deliberate starvation.
It said these practices are part of a broader continuation of the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people.
The group called on the United Nations, international human rights and humanitarian organizations, and people around the world to take immediate and effective action to protect Palestinian prisoners and halt the grave Israeli crime.
Hamas stressed that the Palestinian people will not remain silent in the face of these violations and said the prisoners’ issue will remain a top national priority until all detainees are granted full freedom.
It also called for accountability for all those involved in or complicit in alleged crimes committed within Israeli prisons.
