DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement urged the Council of Arab Health Ministers during its 61st session, hosted by Iraq, to take immediate and practical measures to save the health sector and hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
“We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), call on the Council of Arab Health Ministers in its 61st session, hosted by the Republic of Iraq, to adopt urgent practical decisions and plans to save the health sector and hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which have been subjected to the systematic destruction of all their capabilities and medical cadres for more than a year, due to the aggression and genocidal war committed by the Zionist occupation against our people in the Gaza Strip.”
“All hospitals in the Gaza Strip are out of service and lack the most basic medical resources,” the Movement stressed. With the growing number of wounded, injured, and sick, the targeting of healthcare workers, and the shortage of essential supplies like food, medicine, and fuel, there is a looming threat of a significant rise in deaths, particularly among the wounded, sick, and vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.”
It also praised the speech made by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani at the opening of the 61st session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers in Baghdad, in which he urged the participants to make immediate plans to save the Gaza Strip’s healthcare system.
Killing of Northern Gaza’s only orthopaedic doctor
Israeli occupation forces killed Dr. Saeed Joda on Thursday while he was en route to Al-Awda Hospital in Jabaliya, northern Gaza. While traveling to treat the injured, Dr. Joda, the only orthopaedic surgeon in the area, was hit by an Israeli drone.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed his death, while Al-Awda Hospital emphasized the significance of his role in an area under siege for 70 days.
Dr. Joda was killed instantly, according to the ministry, when the drone struck him directly. In response, it urged international organizations and human rights groups to act to safeguard medical personnel and hospitals while they carry out their humanitarian duties.
Dr. Joda’s death raises the total number of medical personnel killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip to 1,750 since the war began.
The Government Media Office in Gaza reports that Israeli strikes have rendered 80 health centres and 34 hospitals inoperable. In addition, 135 ambulances and 162 medical facilities have been targeted.
