DaysofPal- Palestinian authorities reported that an Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza claimed the lives of at least 33 people, as Israel intensified its devastating assaults across the strip.
The Government Media Office in Gaza condemned the Thursday attack as a “barbaric and heinous massacre,” highlighting that most of the victims were members of the al-Sheikh Ali family.
“The [Israeli] occupation army knew that this is a residential block with many apartment buildings housing dozens of civilians, children, women, and displaced people,” the Government Media Office stated.
Israeli fire struck a postal office in Nuseirat that was providing shelter to displaced Palestinian families and surrounding residences, medics said.
Amid the debris from a building that collapsed, photos from the scene show small children covered in blood and dust. Along with the over 30 people killed, the strike also injured about 50 others.
Israeli strikes have destroyed at least 902 entire families in the Gaza Strip, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.
Throughout the conflict, Israeli forces have targeted facilities and buildings sheltering displaced families. Israeli authorities have not yet commented on Thursday’s strike in Nuseirat.
Health facilities, journalists, and humanitarian workers have also reported being repeatedly targeted by Israeli forces since the conflict began in October 2023.
Israeli forces launched a devastating war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, killing over 44,800 people, mostly women and children.
As the conflict begins its second year, officials and organizations around the world have been increasingly condemning it, calling the attacks and the blocking of aid deliveries a deliberate attempt to wipe out the population.
