Dozens of Israeli settlers invaded the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday morning, August 27, 2023, through Al-Maghariba Gate, heavily guarded by Israeli occupation forces IOF.
Since the morning hours, Israeli forces deployed special units within the courtyards and entrances of Al-Aqsa to secure the settlers’ incursions.
The Islamic Endowments Department in occupied Jerusalem reported that dozens of settlers infiltrated the Al-Aqsa Mosque, conducting provocative rounds within its courtyards and performing Talmudic rituals in the Bab al-Rahma area, situated to the east of the mosque.
Strict Measures in Al-Aqsa
Israeli occupation police implement strict measures for the entry of worshippers from both Jerusalem and the occupied territories into Al-Aqsa.
The IOF regularly scrutinizes the identities of Palestinians heading to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque and detains some individuals outside the external gates.
However, tens of thousands of Palestinian worshipers, including West Bank residents, manage to reach Al-Aqsa on Fridays to pray the noon prayer despite the Israeli restrictions.
Calls for Mobilization
In the face of these incursions and violations, the Palestinian population in Jerusalem continues to issue fervent calls for mass gatherings and mobilization to safeguard the sanctity of Al-Aqsa.
The inhabitants are steadfast in their commitment to thwart the Israeli occupation’s attempts to divide and alter the historical and religious integrity of the mosque.
They consider these gatherings as expressions of resilience against the occupation’s designs and a symbol of unity in the face of ongoing challenges.
Al-Aqsa Mosque faces daily violations, except on Fridays and Saturdays, with settlers, protected by the occupation police, repeatedly invading and attempting to establish complete control over the mosque.
These actions seek to temporally and spatially partition the holy site, which the Palestinians reject and try to prevent.
Settlers’ Calls for Raids in Al-Aqsa
Israeli Temple Mount movement launched calls for raiding the Al-Aqsa mosque compound during the upcoming Jewish holidays this month, triggering Palestinian anger.
In an official press release, the Hamas movement condemned the planned incursions by Israeli settlers supported by the Israeli government.
The movement stated that the Israeli occupation persistently demolishes the homes of Palestinian residents in Jerusalem and enforces restrictions on raising Palestinian flags in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque experiences daily violations and incursions by settlers. These actions seek to divide its temporal and spatial usage.
In July 2023 alone, about 6,558 colonial Israeli settlers raided the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, engaging in provocative Talmudic rituals.
