DaysofPal – At least 28 children are being killed every day in Israeli attacks on Gaza, according to a senior health official, who warns of the unprecedented toll on the territory’s youngest and most vulnerable population.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Dr Munir al-Bursh, Director-General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, stated that children account for approximately 30 percent of all Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli assault.
“The occupation is killing 28 children every day,” al-Bursh said. “These numbers are astonishing and frightening.”
He further revealed that over 65,000 children in Gaza have been orphaned as a result of the war, which he described as a campaign of genocide.
Among the 370 Palestinians who have died from malnutrition-related causes, 131 are children, al-Bursh confirmed, underscoring the lethal impact of what he called an “Israeli-induced famine.”
“Famine and genocide have been officially declared in Gaza,” he said, “but the world has stood still, watching.”
The figures come as part of broader warnings from humanitarian agencies and UN bodies about the catastrophic effects of the war on Gaza’s civilian population, particularly children, who are bearing the brunt of both direct attacks and the collapse of health, food, and shelter systems under siege.
International human rights groups have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire and unfettered access for humanitarian aid, but diplomatic efforts remain stalled as the death toll climbs.
