DaysofPal – The Prisoners’ Information Office has reported that detainees from the Gaza Strip held in Ramla Prison and the Negev Prison are facing harsh detention conditions that continue to worsen under tightened measures and restrictive policies inside prison sections.

In a statement issued Thursday, the office said prison authorities continue to threaten detainees against revealing details of their treatment during family or legal visits. Some prisoners are reportedly kept blindfolded for long hours each day, except during shower time and the brief outdoor period known as “fawra.”

Detainees have also complained about the absence of clocks inside the prison sections, leaving them unable to determine the timing of suhoor and iftar meals during the month of Ramadan.

In the Negev Prison, the office documented growing medical neglect, reduced food quantities, and a decline in overall living standards. It also pointed to the continued use of administrative detention orders, which are repeatedly renewed without a clear time limit.

Several prisoners are said to be suffering from concerning health conditions due to inadequate medical care. Some face infections and other untreated illnesses, while others struggle with skin diseases that require urgent follow-up.

Visits have revealed noticeable weight loss among a number of detainees, reflecting clear nutritional deficiencies. Cleaning supplies are reportedly provided in limited quantities that do not meet basic needs, particularly in overcrowded rooms.

The office stated that prison authorities adjusted meal schedules during Ramadan, yet food portions remained insufficient. The change affected timing only, with no meaningful improvement in quality or quantity.

Access to the outdoor yard is not granted regularly in some sections and is sometimes limited to short periods. At the same time, administrative detention orders have recently been renewed for several prisoners.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the office said detainees continue to maintain their morale and dedicate the month of Ramadan to prayer and worship. It held prison administrations fully responsible for their safety and called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to monitor their conditions, improve their treatment, and work toward the release of the sick, the elderly, and those held under administrative detention.
