DaysofPal- The Gaza Civil Defense announced on Saturday that the launch of operations to recover the bodies of Palestinians killed during the two-year Israeli genocidal war was postponed by two days to allow international organizations to join the search teams.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal described the delay as a positive development, explaining that several international institutions had requested to participate in the recovery effort and provide additional support.
“These organizations will supply equipment, tools, and manpower. They asked us to wait two days before beginning the work,” Basal said in a press statement.
He confirmed that recovery efforts are expected to begin within the next 48 hours, with an official announcement to be made once the operation is underway.
The Civil Defense had initially planned to start the first phase of search and recovery on Saturday, using limited equipment, a single loader and bulldozer, in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
According to Civil Defense figures, more than 9,000 Palestinians remain missing beneath the rubble from the war, which devastated large areas of the Gaza Strip over the past two years.
The participation of international organizations is expected to expand the capacity of search teams, offering hope to thousands of families still waiting for news of their missing loved ones.
