Extremist Israeli settlers unleashed a devastating fire that engulfed vast swathes of Palestinian fields in the village of Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, located south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, on Sunday, July 8, 2023.
Local sources have confirmed that the assailants deliberately targeted agricultural fields, reducing numerous dunams of cultivated crops and dozens of precious olive trees to ashes.
The swift action of the residents, aided by the Civil Defense, prevented the flames from spreading further, the sources added.
This incident is part of an alarming surge in aggression, with Israeli occupation authorities and settlers perpetrating over 3,027 attacks against Palestinians and their properties throughout the West Bank and Jerusalem in June 2023.
According to reports from the United Nations, the population of Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, witnessed a significant increase from 520,000 in 2012 to surpassing 700,000 by 2022.
