The first half of 2022 has seen a sharp increase in the Israeli crimes and human rights violations against Palestinians. Meanwhile, Palestinian children were the most affected by the Israeli illegal violations.
According to the Defence for Children International-Palestine DCIP, Israel has killed 15 Palestinian children during the first sixth months of 2022. The latest was the 16-year-old Mohammed Hamed who was killed by Israeli forces during a military raid in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
The DCIP revealed that five out of 15 Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces were from Jenin. They are Muhammad Abu Salah, Sanad Abu Atiah, Muhammad Qasim, Shawkat Abed, and Amjad Fayed.
Muhammad Abu Salah, 16, was fatally shot in his right eye by an Israeli sniper at the entrance to the town of Al-Silah Al-Harithiya on February 13 of this year. He was pronounced dead the following day.
Sanad Abu Attia, a 16-year-old child from Jenin camp, was shot in the chest on March 31, 2022 while trying to help an injured man who was hit in the head with an Israeli bullet. This happened during a military campaign carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in Jenin. The child Sanad and the other injured were taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
16-year-old Mohammed Qasim was fatally shot in the stomach on April 10, 2022 by a bullet fired by an Israeli soldier holed up in a military vehicle. He stayed at the intensive care unit for hours until he died on April 11.
17-year-old Shawkat Abed was shot in the lower abdomen during an Israeli raid in Kafardan town in the occupied Jenin on April 14. He died from his wounds on Friday, April 15.
Amjad Fayed, 17, was murdered in Jenin by the Israeli occupation forces pre-dawn Saturday, May 21. Israeli occupation forces opened fire on Fayed, injuring him several times with live ammunition and causing his death.
The DCIP documented 6 Palestinian children having been injured since the start of 2022. Two of them sustained critical wounds. Meanwhile, 17 Palestinian children have been arrested as part of the Israeli nocturnal raids in the West Bank cities.
78 children under 18 years were killed by Israeli army gunfire in 2021, 17 in the West Bank and 61 in the Gaza Strip. In addition, at least 60, including 15 children Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank and Jerusalem by Israeli forces so far in 2022.
