DaysofPal – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza warned on Saturday of an imminent collapse of the territory’s health system, stating that the few hospitals still operating are struggling to provide even the most basic services. These facilities have effectively become forced waiting points for thousands of patients and wounded people facing an uncertain fate.
The ministry said in a press release that the ongoing medical care has become an extraordinary challenge and a daily struggle as a result of a systematic attack on the health sector. Efforts to recover or restore specialized medical services have largely failed after widespread disruption across hospitals and clinics.
The ministry explained that the depletion of medical supplies has reached critical levels, turning even basic painkillers into an unattainable luxury for patients who face the risk of death every minute.
Official statistics show that 84 percent of laboratory and blood bank supplies, 66 percent of medical consumables, and 46 percent of essential medications are totally unavailable.
Cancer treatment, blood disease care, surgery, critical care, and primary health services are some of the areas most negatively impacted by the current crisis, according to health officials. They added that the limited quantities of medicines reaching hospitals fall far short of actual needs and are insufficient to ensure the continuity of health services.
The ministry warned that saving Gaza’s health system cannot be achieved through temporary emergency measures that only deepen the long-term impact of the crisis. It renewed its urgent appeal to all concerned parties to intervene immediately and replenish medical stocks in order to prevent a complete collapse of the health sector.
Nearly 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza, including about 1.5 million displaced people, continue to endure catastrophic humanitarian conditions following a war launched by Israel on 8 October 2023 with U.S. support, which lasted two years.
The conflict deliberately targeted health facilities and infrastructure, leaving widespread destruction and severe humanitarian consequences across all aspects of life.
Despite the ceasefire agreement in effect since 10 October 2025, Israel continues to block the entry of agreed quantities of humanitarian aid into Gaza. The ministry said these restrictions are worsening the humanitarian crisis and accelerating the deterioration of living conditions throughout the territory.
