At the annual BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, the alliance has reiterated its steadfast support for the State of Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations. The BRICS group, originally consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has expanded in 2023 to include Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
In the Kazan Declaration, the alliance underscored its unwavering commitment to a two-state solution, adhering to internationally recognized borders as of June 1967. The declaration also voiced deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, advocating for an immediate, comprehensive, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Furthermore, the declaration calls for the release of all captives and detainees from both sides and urges the Israeli occupation to permit unhindered humanitarian aid into Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for relief in the war-stricken region.
