The Inspector General of the Israeli occupation police, “Yacoub Shabtai,” received Wednesday, January 11, an order from the Minister of “National Security”, Itamar Ben Gvir, to ban raising Palestinian flag in public places.
This decision came in the background of raising the Palestinian flag in the celebrations organized in the town of Ara in the 1948-Israeli-occupied Palestinian lands last week. They celebrated the liberation of the Palestinian detainee, Karim Younes, after spending 40 years in Israeli prisons.
Amnesty Spokesman: Israel’s ban on Raising Palestinian Flags Violates UN’s Charters
While Israeli law gives the police inspector general the mandate to ban the raising of the Palestinian flag. By this law, the occupation attempts to eliminate the Palestinian identity that would stir up public opinion.
In a related context, Spokesman of Amnesty International Rami Haider stated on Tuesday that the Israeli new government’s ban of raising the Palestinian flags violates human rights and United Nation’s charters.
It’s noteworthy that these provocative acts come amid the escalating atmosphere, especially after the formation of the new Israeli Government. On a daily basis, Israeli occupation practices violations against Palestinian citizens, deliberate detentions, house demolitions and mandatory deportation policy in a way to suffocate and complicate Palestinian lives.
Days ago, 330 leaders of Jewish citizens in America called for a boycott of certain parts of the new Israeli occupation government. This comes in light of the recent formation of the Israeli government, which consists of right-wing parties and religious Jewish parties.
