Palestinian administrative detainee Khalil Awawdeh, 40, continues his open-ended hunger strike for the 145th consecutive day in protest of his administrative detention without charge or trial in Israeli prisons.
Awawdeh reportedly suffers joint pain, and severe headaches as he moves in a wheelchair. Meanwhile, Israeli occupation authorities are delaying conducting medical examinations for Awawdeh, claiming that he has not yet faced a serious health condition.
Awawdeh, a father of four, has already suspended his open hunger strike on his 111th day after he received promises from the Israeli occupation authorities to release him. Yet the occupation authorities renewed his detention for 4 months which prompted him to resume his hunger strike.
The Israeli occupation has been illegally carrying out administrative detention against Palestinians over the years. Under Administrative detention, Palestinian prisoners are held without charge or trial, and without allowing them or their lawyer to inspect the evidence materials, in a flagrant violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law.
