The Israeli occupation shot a Palestinian child in the eye resulting in its loss on Saturday, August 13th, in spite of doctors’ efforts.
The child Ziyad Muhammad Abu Ayyash (15 years), from the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, lost his right eye completely after being shot by an Israeli sniper last Tuesday.
The child Abu Ayyash underwent surgery, on Saturday, in a hospital in the Jordanian capital, Amman, but the doctors’ attempts were unsuccessful after the bullet led to a laceration in the retina.
Abu Ayyash was hit by rubber-coated metal bullets fired by the Israeli occupation forces stationed in the military tower at the entrance to his town of Beit Ummar, towards the citizens who went out in a demonstration condemning the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people.
The father of the child said in a moving post: “Attempts to save the Ziyad’s eyes were unsuccessful, and I ask God to grant him health and wellness and to preserve his left eye…”
This adds one page to the book of the deliberate Israeli crimes against the Palestinian population in general and the children in particular, Who have been targeted, shot at, persecuted, and arrested continuously by the Israeli occupation forces.
2/2 Children enjoy special protection under IHL. Israel, as a state party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, has an obligation to uphold its commitments to the human rights of children, incl. right to life. 37 children have been killed in the conflict this year.

Even worse their houses and now schools are in danger of demolition causing them to have more deficultly in getting their much-needed education and subjecting them to further displacement.
EU🇪🇺 & likeminded countries visited today Ein Samiya community near Ramallah. The visit comes in light of the serious threat of demolition of a donor funded school, which provides access to education for children in Ein Samiya & neighbouring communities. https://t.co/bysz5Mzx9T pic.twitter.com/jln6YJmRCC
