Up to 500 Palestinian administrative detainees currently held in the Israeli prisons began a collective boycott on 1 January 2022, under the campaign ‘Our Decision is Freedom…No to Administrative Detention’.
For the 168th consecutive day, the administrative detainees continue to boycott the Israeli courts to protest their illegal detention and demand their freedom. The boycott comes amid Israeli occupation authorities’ rising escalation of administrative detention against Palestinian men, women, minors, human rights defenders, students, politicians, and ex-detainees.
Under the administrative detention, Palestinian detainees are held for periods ranging from 6 month to several years. For decades, Israel has intentionally used administrative detention to detain individuals without trial or clear charges against them.
Since 2015, Israel has issued 8700 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including men, women, children, and, elderly.
