Palestinian Professor Rabab Abdulhadi faces an immense smear campaign within the Israeli lobby’s institutional measures to silence Palestinian voices abroad speaking up for Palestinian rights.
A professor at the University of San Francisco, Rabab Abdulhadi, was subjected to a wave of Zionist incitement after receiving the Middle East Studies Association’s Jerry L. Bacharach Award in 2022. Israeli groups accused Abdulhadi of “anti-Semitism” for her pro-Palestine stances.
“There have been death threats, letters that they sent to my office at the university and copies of which were sent to the office of the president of the university,” Abdulhadi said.
Abdulhadi added that the University of San Francisco in cooperation with the Israeli lobby demanded that the US government investigate her and her colleagues on charges of financing “terrorism”.
Professor Rabab Abdulhadi explained that Zionist groups are trying to pass what is known as the IHRA, which redefines anti-Semitism as criticism of “Israel,” including anti-Zionism.
Rabab Abdulhadi is an example of the dangers that activists and academics face around the world for exposing the Israeli occupation’s continuous crimes and their advocacy for the Palestinian people’s human rights.
