Days of Palestine – Bethlehem

Two children were poisoned, and 400 trees were damaged, on Friday, after settlers sprayed them with toxic pesticides in the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem.

Activist Ahmed Salah stated that a group of settlers from the outpost of “Sidi Boaz”, which was built on the citizens’ lands, sprayed a vineyard with toxic pesticides in the Ain al-Qassis area, west of the town, which led to the destruction of 400 trees belonging to the Palestinians.

He pointed out that the two children, Abdel Salam Raafat Salah, two years old, and Ahmed Abdel Salam Salah, three years old, were poisoned by inhaling the smell of the pesticide, and were taken to hospital for treatment.

It is noteworthy that the area of Ain al-Kassis has been subjected to a fierce attack by settlers for some time, in an attempt to seize more lands in order to expand the settlement outpost “Sidi Boaz”.

The village of Al-Khader is located to the west of the city of Bethlehem, about 5 kilometers away from it.

The village witnesses frequent confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces, including arrests and injuries, in addition to terrorizing citizens in their homes, especially women and children.

Israeli occupation authorities are trying to control the arable lands thereby building the apartheid wall.

The Israeli occupation authorities stole part of its lands and established on it the settlement of “Kfar Etzion”, a kibbutz established in 1967 on a land area of 4,500 dunums, inhabited by 461 settlers, and the settlement of “Daniel”, a residential village established in 1983 on a land area of 200 dunams.
