Days of Palestine – Salfit

Late last night, thousands of Israeli settlers stormed the Islamic shrines in the town of Kafel Haris, north of Salfit.

Local sources reported that thousands of settlers stormed the Kafel Haris tonight, under the protection of the Israeli occupation soldiers.

The sources pointed out that settlers raided Islamic shrines, desecrated them, and performed Talmudic prayers and religious rituals.

The Israeli occupation forces intensified their presence and military reinforcements at the main entrance to the town of Kafel Haris, and prevented citizens from moving.

It is noteworthy that this incursion is the largest in a series of incursions carried out by settlers.

Kafel Haris is witnessing continuous attacks by settlers, including attacks on residents' homes by throwing stones, destroying property, loud dances, and racist slogans.

In Salfit, there are 18 Palestinian communities, compared to 24 settlements, between residential and industrial, and the percentage of lands allocated for Palestinian construction in the governorate is only about 6% of the total area, compared to 9% for the benefit of settlers.

The Israeli occupation is working to expand settlements and link them to a water, electricity and sewage network, to form a settlement bloc that controls an area of up to 70% of Salfit's lands.

Ariel is considered one of the largest settlements in the West Bank, and it has devoured thousands of dunams of citizens' lands.

The Israeli occupation is seeking to annex it to Israeli sovereignty within a scheme that includes the Jordan Valley and a number of settlements built on the lands of the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Salfit is the second governorate after Jerusalem in terms of settlement targeting, with the aim of separating the northern West Bank from its south, and controlling the underground water in the governorate.
