Days of Palestine – Ramallah

The Israeli occupation authorities announced the seizure of 193 dunums in the east of Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, with the aim of establishing a "waste dump" to serve the settlements.

Deir Dibwan Municipality Mayor, Mansour Mansour, said in a press statement that the maps published by the Israeli occupation indicate the seizure of a total of 193 dunums of Deir Dibwan and neighboring Ramon lands in order to establish a "landfill" for the benefit of settlers, which is rejected by the Palestinian citizens.

The mayor assured that the citizens will stand up to all attempts by the Israeli occupation to seize their land.

The town of Deir Dibwan located 8 km to the east of Ramallah, and it is bordered on the north by Ramon and Ein Yabroud, on the west by two houses, and on the east by An-Nuweimah and Ein Dyuk al-Fawqa, and from the south by Anata, Mkhmas, and Barqa.

The Israeli occupation creates excuses and justifications for stealing Palestinian land, as happened with the theft of land east of Deir Dibwan and then Judaizing it.

Since the beginning of the year 2000, on the eve of the Al-Aqsa Intifada at that time, the Israeli occupation imposed restrictions that prevented the owners of the plots of land adjacent to the settlement of "Ma'aleh Mikhmas" from cultivating the lands surrounding the settlement, which were previously cultivated with various field crops, and also prevented, according to military decisions, the use of Road No. 458 – and it is well known by "Alon" – from the Palestinians.

That area remained the monopoly of the Israeli occupation and its settlers until 2013, during which time the settlers were active in leveling the lands and expanding the settlement area in it, and in 2018 the so-called "Regional Committee for Planning and Building" of the Israeli Civil Administration issued a proposed organizational plan to control 123 dunums of the lands that are located in the vicinity of "Ma'aleh Makhmas" settlement, to expand their organizational chart.

It is noteworthy that the settlement of "Ma'aleh Mikhmas" was established in 1981 on the lands of Deir Dibwan village, and today it confiscates approximately 1,200 dunums from the villages of Mikhmas and Deir Dibwan.
