Days of Palestine – Jerusalem

The Israeli occupation forces Today, Monday, arrested two children from the town of Al-Tur, east of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources said that the Israeli occupation forces arrested the child Ismail Daoud Abu Al-Hawa (15 years), after raiding his house in the "Al-Khalwa" area, and the child Raed Hazem Al-Sayyad (16 years), after storming his home in the "Qa'a Al-Hara" area.

Al-Tur residents suffer from the continuous attacks of the Israeli occupation authorities and settlers and the occupation authorities have confiscated more than 8 thousand dunums of their lands since its occupation in 1967.

Al-Tur neighborhood is located in the east of occupied Jerusalem on the slopes of the Mount of Olives overlooking the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is 826 meters above sea level and has an area of 8,808 dunams and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

It is bordered to the east by the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to the west by Khan Al-Ahmar, to the north by the village of Al-Issawiya, and to the south by Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis.

The name of the neighborhood goes back to before the birth of Jesus, peace be upon him, and it was called Tur Zita. Because most of its lands were cultivated with olives, as it was known in the Roman era as Beit Vage, "the house of figs", and its population is approximately 40 thousand people.

Al-Tur neighborhood also includes Al-Maqased Hospital, Al-Mutlaa Hospital, Princess Basma Hospital for Special Needs, and the Red Crescent Hospital.
